Here you will find a collection of notes, information, and meditations on numerous religions. If you are curious about other religions, interested in challenging your own belief system, are down right bored, or are looking for a sober account of some of the most well known religions, then a good starting point is here. For background I identify as Agnostic, that is, I personally neither believe in God nor disbelieve in God, and I find myself standing in a rather neutral position. The reason for the compilation of this material and pursuing this endeavor is no different than my pursuit in mathematics or other academic areas: it is simply to know more. Due to my lack of devotion to any particular faith, I believe that I can provide an entirely sober account; I hope that you'd agree. Lastly, the reason I am quick to state my own opinions is because I immediately want to make apparent any possible biases (or lack thereof) which could be present in the following work. I believe that it is important to be aware of any possible biases from an author when it comes to these kinds of topics.
I have recently found an interest in studying some of the world's most recognized religions. The reason for considering "the world's most recognized religions" is simply due to ease of discovery and abundance of resources. Furthermore, depending on the criteria used to differentiate religious traditions, there are thousands, if not millions of different religions. Given the impossibility of examining each one, I have restricted my scope of inquiry to those that possess general recognition.
The list I intend to consider is subject to change, but is currently Mormonism, Judaism, Christianity, Satanism, Buddhism, Atheism, Agnosticism, Islam, and Scientology. An important note to all readers: For those who may identify as theists and find themselves revolted by the inclusion of Satanism, Atheism, and the like, I invite you to challenge your instincts and, in fact, find the hypocrisy in pushing your beliefs whilst shunning others. The same goes for any reader who identifies as atheist in some manner; you are not exempt.
Lastly, the things I will be considering for each religion are: The main characters, central beliefs, deity of worship (or lack thereof), central disbeliefs (or "sins"), religious roles, similarities and differences between other religions, and general religious practices/customs (note the specificities of these can vary based on a number of factors and I will not be able to properly capture them all).
